With the vision of "Emerge as the premier Indian stock exchange by establishing global benchmarks". The Mumbai Stock Exchange earlier known as Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was established in 1875 as “The Native Share and Stock Broker’s  Association”. Since then from last 135 years the Mumbai Stock Exchange is continuously strengthening the industrial houses by providing them the suitable capital to meet their funds.

At present Bombay Stock Exchange stands at position of number one on the basis of companies registered with the Stock Exchange. The introduction of e-transactions placed it at 5th position in the world for electronic trading system. With this it is the first exchange in India and second in the world to the have privilege of obtaining the certificate of ISO 9001:2000.

Awards:
•    The Annual Reports and Accounts of BSE  have been awarded the ICAI awards for excellence in financial reporting for the year 2006 and 2007 respectively.
•    The Human Resource Management at BSE has won the Asia - Pacific HRM awards for its endeavor in employer branding through talent management at work, health management at work and excellence in HR through technology .
